The Craigenputtock Estate – the former home of Thomas Carlyle is accessed from the east via Dunscore and from the west via Corsock. It is in the most wonderful setting in a sparsely populated part of Dumfries and Galloway called Nithsdale. Surrounded by hills, woodlands and striking scenery it will leave you calm and satisfied. With Loch Urr to the north Craigenputtock has to be seen to appreciate what life a hundred years ago must have been like.

Archery

Journey from a bygone age when bows and arrows were used to hunt – through the romantic years of Robin Hood and Agincourt, to the present century where modern bows can be used and enjoyed by almost anyone.

After some basic tuition, hear the swish of the flights as the arrow speeds to the target and experience the thrill of hitting gold! it’s great fun and quite relaxing.
